Farm to Table: 7 Best South Seattle Produce Stands

MacPherson’s Fruit & Produce on Beacon Hill & Rainer Produce & Farmers Market in Mount Baker are open year-round.

Now is the best time for fresh produce in Washington State, and South Seattle boasts seven stands currently in operation, with two open year-round. Do you have a favorite?

1. Columbia City Farmers Market
One of the largest farmers markets in the Northwest—this well-loved neighborhood market first opened in June of 1998 in the former Columbia Plaza parking lot (now home of the new PCC) when founder Karen Kinney led a small group of neighborhood volunteers in organizing the market using the burgeoning U-District Farmers Market as a model. CCFM can be found every Wednesday through October, from 3 to 7 pm. (South Edmunds Street at 37th Avenue South/206-547-2278) Columbia Park

2. MacPherson’s Fruit & Produce
Inexpensive fresh fruit, vegetables, sauces, spreads, juices, flowers & more offered in an airy market setting. Open year-round. (4500 15th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108/206-762-0115) Beacon Hill

3. New Holly Rockery Community Garden and Market Garden
Located in the NewHolly neighborhood on Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) property Fridays 4-7 pm from July 7 through September 29, 2017. The gardeners work communally and sell their organic produce through a farm stand. The P-Patch staff work with the gardeners to develop and manage the gardens, along with selling and marketing the produce. The NewHolly farm stands are open during the summer and anyone is welcome to purchase fresh organic produce and meet the farmers. The farm stands accept EBT and Fresh Bucks. (S. Holly Park Dr. between 40th Ave. S. and Rockery Dr. S./206-547-2278) NewHolly

4. Rainer Produce & Farmers Market
Inexpensive fresh fruit, vegetables, sauces, spreads, juices, flowers & more offered in an airy market setting. Open year-round. (2119 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144/206-687-7492) North Rainier
